Although I am no longer your treasurer, I still maintain the records of subscribers to this magazine and am pleased that Derrik has been able to tell me the completed details of many of the distributors' lists this year. If missed, it is your responsibility to get your payment to your deliverer who will pass it on (either direct or via a churchwarden); we are very grateful for this and do not see that it should be necessary for volunteers to make continual return visits to collect the money. If you do not know the identity of your distributor, please contact me and I will gladly look up the relevant details for you.
Good news from the hospital: I've been discharged (I hope not written off!) by two clinics, Surgical Outpatients and the Foot Clinic at the Diabetes Centre. 2 down, 3 to go! And our team came equal 3rd in the Guides' Quiz. Two teams tied for 1st place, so we had the 2nd best score!
This year, I hope to see you at the Annual Parochial Church Meeting on April 20th. I have urged you before to support church events yourself and encourage your friends to come with you. The Social Committee have arranged a Quiz Evening with Fish and Chips to be held at the St Andrew's Centre on Thursday, April 28th; to start at 7.00 p.m. . Please get your tickets as soon as available to help with arranging the food, etc.

Here are some quotations which I think appropriate for now; I hope you do as well.

"In everything we do we make a choice. We all have choices. The things I do today will affect my tomorrow." - David Melville-LaBorde

"The longest day you'll ever have is only 24 hours long." - Author Unknown

"Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are... Let me not pass you by in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow. One day I shall dig my nails into the earth, or bury my face in my pillow, or stretch myself taught, or raise my hands to the sky and want, more than all the world, your return." - Mary Jean Iron

"I wish I could stand on a busy corner, hat in hand, and beg people to throw me all their wasted hours." - Bernard Berenson

"Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so" - Douglas Adams

"To be young, really young, takes a very long time.” - Picasso

APRIL 2005

Firstly, a note about magazine subscriptions; as I said last month, I still maintain the records of subscribers to this magazine although I am no longer your treasurer, and I am pleased that Derrik has been able to pass me the completed details of so many of the delivery lists this year. I'm glad that so many of you appreciate having a regular copy delivered freely (in Thorpe) to your door - if this isn't yet the case, please use the form on p26.
It's a pity that several distributors are unable to send in their lists due to delay in receiving all the subscriptions (despite repeated visits) - if you do not know the identity of your distributor, please contact me and I will gladly look up the relevant details for you. Such delays cause the supply of incorrect numbers to deliver - this may be adjusted by the distributor via the church supply but this leads to unnecessary delivery delay and volunteer's time.
Now some events news:
The next meeting of the Norwich & District Branch of Diabetes UK will be held @ 7.30 pm on Monday, April 18th at the Vauxhall Centre (a new venue!). Raffle & refreshments - friends welcome. Dr Richard Greenwood (consultant) will give his annual update, “What‘s New in Diabetes“. This is normally the best attended meeting so it's advisable to be early. For further information, please contact Maggie Flatman, chairman, on 783091.
Here in Thorpe, I hope to see you at the Annual Parochial Church Meeting on Wednesday, April 20th (7.30 pm in the Good Shepherd Church). I have urged you before to support church events yourself and encourage your friends to come with you. The Social Committee have arranged a Quiz Evening with Fish and Chips to be held at the St Andrew's Centre on Thursday, April 28th; to start at 7.00 p.m. . Please get your tickets as soon as possible to help with arranging the food, etc.
Here are some quotations which I like; I hope you do as well.

"Your future depends on many things, but mostly on you." - Frank Tyger

"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." - Thomas Edison

"The only true failure in life is to stop trying."
